Resident Home Team

Get To know Our Residents

Wilmington, NC
Why Resident Support?

This is the most flexible and rewarding way to volunteer at Eden Village. The volunteers and resident coordinate getting together on their own time and can build a friendship in whatever way works for both parties. Not only are you signing up to help a resident transition, but you are also gaining the opportunity to get to know an individual who has so much wisdom and knowledge to share with you too. Volunteering as a Home Team member allows you such a greater insight into who our amazing residents are and may push you to question your own preconceptions about what homelessness is. We want volunteers who are available for all the beauty and challenge that comes with building relationships!

Team Responsibilities

Home Teams are groups of individuals that we pair with each of our residents to help them transition from homelessness to being housed. Each resident is different and unique, so each Home Team looks different. Overall, Home Teams act as built in friends to help our residents feel supported, settle into their homes, and start to build an uplifting community. Home Teams might:

  • Check up on the resident to see how they are doing
  • Help the resident with transportation to places like the doctor or grocery store
  • Celebrate life events with the resident, like birthdays and sober-versaries
  • Watch sports together
  • Come together for meals
